Is Securities transaction tax (STT) levied on exchange-traded funds (ETFs)?

Securities Transaction Tax is not applicable on GOLD ETFs, LIQUID/Gilt ETFs, and some International ETFs.

For other than ETFs, STT is: -

- 0.001% on the sell-side for delivery-based trades.

- 0.025% on the sell side for intraday/BTST (non-delivery based) trades.

The STT non-applicability report on the NSE website has a list of scripts on which STT is not applicable.
