What is a Mandate?

A mandate is an auto-debit permission that you give to your bank. Once the mandate is approved, your SIP amount gets deducted automatically every month — without making manual payments.

Example:

If your mandate limit is ₹20,000, and next month you want to invest ₹40,000 through SIP, then it won’t be possible.

Even if you try to pay ₹40,000, only ₹20,000 will go into the SIP, and the remaining ₹20,000 will be treated as a lumpsum investment.

That’s why people create a larger mandate — like ₹2 lakh or ₹5 lakh. It does not mean this amount will be deducted every month, it just saves you from creating a new mandate again and again.
